Lighting Design

My Submission for the Robert Bruce Thompson Annual Student Light Fixture Design Competition. You can check out the winners from previous years here: http://www.rbtcompetition.org/

Some of the past winners are pretty cool, and a lot of them come from Ringling, so I am pretty excited to find out who takes home this years prize!

The design problem was to design a porch light to illuminate the front door of a single family residence. Here is my solution: (Click to enlarge)

Yay! Part one, Complete

I just turned in my process binder. Step one of the big project, DONE. :)

At the last minute, with a bite sized rush of adrenaline, I whipped out this cover page, and I kinda like it. Well... actually, I really like it. Perhaps I'll use it on my board too? hmm.

Floor Plan

All drawn, up and rendered. Now I am just ready to plot it and add shading and dimension. Goodbye weekend! I do it for love.

Spring, Junior Year.

We are running out of time for our corporate office project, and I am running on empty. Here is the concept for the space I designed. ReTh!nk Inc. Corporate Office

The concept for ReThink’s new office space is the earth element of wind and the effects of erosion. Located in the windy city of Chicago Illinois, the corporate office of this reengineering firm will be spacious, sleek and modern. Just as the company seeks to redesign products and incorporate green and sustainable design, some of the materials selected for this project will be reclaimed, recycled and sustainable. The elements of texture and form alongside the principles of repetition and movement will help define the interior architecture and material selection for this project.

Welcome to Para Gaia

This entire project has been quite the journey! So here is a full semesters worth of hard work and dedication. Although I lost my touch for a few weeks there, I got my swing back, and I am happier than ever to be posting this entry right now!

Update...

Keep in mind this is still undergoing changes...Even if i am behind, I know I will be changing things until the last possible second. It's one of the stressful things about being a designer.

I am actually excited to be posting this, It has been awesome to see this go from 2D to 3D, and making it look as great as it does.

More stills to come soon, or as soon as I figure something else out. I am in a bit of a rut, and want to change so much. It's taking a lot of will power to keep from doing so.

Cranking it out.

I still have tons to add... like clothes. It really is coming along though. Earlier today I felt like I had quite the mountain to climb, but I am hoping to get some rest, catch up on a few tv shows, and get back to work on this later tonight. :) I'm excited to keep everyone updated.
