I swear to you, it's never over

The second one project ends, another begins! My Digital Rendering studio class final project is 900 sq.ft. personal living and studio space, where I become my own client. It can be located anywhere in the world, and of course with my current obsession with the land down under, this little beauty is my inspiration for this next project :)


This project... is one i dont believe i will get sick of!

So i got a 94 on my Nuts project. I'm really happy about that!

Today in Digital Rendering, learning about daylighting, I created this little beast...


I like him a lot! haha.

ok. off to my RIDA meeting, lunch, and a little field trip downtown to look at some KNOLL furniture. :) Im dying to sit in this little ounce of heaven!

and i need to add a few lighting fixtures, signage, and set a few camera views, and then i think i might just be able to call it a day. maybe tomorrow? ugh. the week of midterms are always the worst. :/

Dee's Nutz

As in: Nuts belonging to; the property of: Dee. [hahahaha! i just like the way it sounds]

When i was in Nashville last week, i realized that the peanut stand in the middle of the mall got almost as much attention as any store tucked into the main drag. So what better kiosk to design for my Digital Rendering midterm project, but a Nut Stand?! Exactly!


I think we have a HOME RUN here kids!
Im still having fun with it, but give it a few more days and ill probably want to choke on a handful of roasted almonds.

My ID2 project is in full swing!

So start checking in more often! I have finally developed a final floor plan :) as soon as a scanner is free, ill scan in my final pen and pencil copy, including furniture and some sketches. This will have to do for now.
Rooms: [from bottom door] Entry into Living Area, through to the Kitchen on the far left, and dining to your right. Through the opening, your bathroom is on the bottom [next to the entry foyer] including a utility closet, room for ADA wheelchair access, and a small linen closet. Bottom right corner is the Master Bedroom with niche for a set of drawers and 3 sliding closet doors. At the top right of the plan is the artist studio, with custom Cabinetry on the south wall. [pictured at bottom]


Lighting plan, summarizing where each of my pendant, track, and recessed lighting will be placed. The dotted lines signify which switches control what string of lights.


Top: Custom studio storage unit. Primarily designed to store canvas materials, brushes, the utility sink, and other art supplies.
Bottom: Closet doors, and a little peek into the closet layout for the master bedroom. [still sketching closet door concepts]

Ok. It's been a long few days, and now that this is done, im off to get some SERIOUS sleep.

Frank O. Gehry

My first project in my Interior Design II class is an artist's residence. A 3 month studio/apartment and living space for one. It is located in the Chelsea district of NY, and surrounded by culture. I am really liking this project so far!

I was really inspired by Frank O. Gehry's jewelry line for Tiffany & CO. [pictured below] The soft, angular lines were quite eye opening and will serve as quite the motif. 

My concept statement:

The concept for this artist's residence, located in Chelsea, New York, is an organic jewelry line designed by Frank O. Gehry. Further inspired by his design for the IAC Building on 11th street and embracing the elements of design, such as open space, geometric and organic forms, variations of texture, and light to help emphasize the concept. My design will can be further demonstrated by the principles of scale, asymmetrical balance, variety, and rhythm. 

SO... with all of that said, here are some of my 3rd generation floor plan sketches. 

^Notice the "fish" here in the lower left corner. 

This shape is not only featured as a pendant in his jewelry line [pictured top] but it was also a motif Gehry used in many of his buildings. 

I am really excited now that this project is rolling. i think i came up with something really innovative this time around.

Retail Sales Rack.

Here's a little something we worked on in class..
i stayed after and added the dresses to get a little bit of practicing in.


My midterm is a sales kiosk, so ill post some process work as soon as i get started.

Digital Rendering Quiz1

I am really proud of this one! There were a few hickups towards the start but it came together nicely. liking the colors. The tables could have been better though... :/

Digital Rendering and Concept.

So im almost 2 weeks into my second semester this year, and i have come across, by far, some of the hardest assignments so far. My Digital Rendering class is pretty "hardcore."

Last week we were asked to create an apple and an orange to add to the scene provided, and for my first few tries, i had quite the lumpy apple... but on my 3rd try i got the shape just right, as for my orange, those things are lumpy anyways, so i went with it.

Dont even get me started on the lighting...


So as the lessons continue, we learned a basic "how-to" for making furniture, and we started with a basic chair.The love seat is due on Monday so as soon as i render that i'll post it up here.
